Ingredient intelligence for skincare commerce
Recommend the product that actually fits the routine, not the one other shoppers happened to buy.
Qinci reads the ingredient list of every product in your Shopify store. It sees what is already in a shopper's cart, finds the routine step that is missing, and suggests the one product that pairs cleanly with what they have. Every suggestion carries a reason you can read.
309+ actives mapped · English, German and Hungarian throughout · installs as a theme app block
How it works
Sync the catalogue
On install we pull every product and read its INCI from the custom.inci_list metafield, falling back to the product description. No lists on file yet? Drop in a CSV and the engine maps it.
Read the cart
When a shopper builds a cart, the app block identifies the active ingredients in it and finds the highest priority routine step that is not covered. Cleanser, treat, exfoliate, serum, eye, moisturise, protect.
Return one honest pick
It scores every candidate on step fit, ingredient synergy and known conflicts, then shows the single best pairing. With a plain sentence explaining it, and any alternate night cautions.
A scoring model you can audit
No model, no embeddings, no monthly inference bill. A fixed rule set over a curated ingredient database. The same cart always produces the same recommendation, and the arithmetic is on the page.
- +50
- candidate fills the missing routine step
- +2
- for each ingredient synergy with the cart
- 10 off
- for each known conflict, such as retinol with a strong acid
- +10
- soothing ingredient meets a high strength active
It will not upsell a product that clashes with the cart. When the best option still conflicts, it says so instead of hiding it.
Try it yourself: paste any ingredient list into the conflict checker →Cart holds a glycolic acid toner
Missing step: moisturiser. The pick:
Ceramide Barrier Cream
“Your cart has glycolic acid but no moisturiser. This adds ceramides and panthenol, which calm the barrier after exfoliation and pair well with the acid you are already using.”
One engine, every surface
The same deterministic engine drives every place a shopper meets a recommendation, plus a developer API for everyone else.
Product page and cart
A theme app block shows the pairing after Add to Cart and re-checks on any cart change, slide-out drawers included. It can suggest two or three products that each fill a different routine step, with one tap to add them all, an “email me this routine” capture, and prices in the shopper's own currency under Shopify Markets.
Post purchase offer
After payment, before the thank you page, a one click card adds the routine completing product to the same order with no card details re entered.
Routine Planner
A short quiz builds a full morning and evening routine from your catalogue, adds the whole routine to the cart in one tap, captures the shopper's email and hands you the lead. Switch it on for your storefront on Starter and Pro.
Free conflict checker
A public, no login tool that reads any ingredient list, flags layering conflicts, and links back to your store.
Trade up rules
Name your higher margin or house brand heroes and the engine prefers them whenever they genuinely fit the missing step.
Match your brand
Set the widget's accent colour to your own. The card, the CTA and the discount badge follow it. Recognises 250+ common third-party products, so stores that resell get recommendations on day one.
Prove it works
A built-in holdout hides Qinci from a random 10% of visitors, so your dashboard shows cart-intent and order rates with the widget against without it. A Monday email recaps the week: recommendations shown, clicks and influenced revenue.
See what your shelf is missing
The Routine Planner reports which steps shoppers keep asking for that your catalogue could not fill, ranked by how often, right on your dashboard. A concrete steer for what to stock next, not a guess.
Developer API
POST a cart and a catalogue to the v1 endpoint and get the same scored pairing back. Key authenticated, nothing stored.
Sellable bundles from real data
Qinci already knows which pairing actually converts. One click drafts a real bundle product from it, priced and ready for you to review before it goes live.
Why it beats a generic upsell
“Customers also bought” apps rank by correlation. Quiz apps rank by a table the merchant fills in by hand. Qinci ranks by the formulation itself, which is the thing a skincare shopper is actually deciding on.

What it is worth
A worked example, not a guarantee
€770
Added revenue, in this example
Say your store ships 400 orders a month. The widget shows a pairing on the product page and 6 shoppers in 100 add it at a €32 average. That is roughly €770 of added revenue in a month, against a €49 plan. The conflict warnings trim the returns that begin with “this broke me out”, and the planner collects email addresses you did not have before.
Revenue you can attribute
Every impression, click and add is logged against the pairing that drove it, and a built-in holdout gives you a no-Qinci baseline to compare against. You see the lift as a number, not a promise.
Returns you avoid
Telling a shopper to alternate their retinol and their acid prevents the reaction that ends in a refund and a one star review.
A map of your catalogue
The planner reports which routine steps your customers ask for and your shelf cannot fill yet. That is a merchandising brief.

The Routine Planner is a lead magnet in a lab coat
A short quiz builds a full morning and evening routine from your catalogue, captures an email, and tells you which concerns your customers have and which steps your shelf cannot answer yet.
Questions merchants actually ask
Do I need to replace my existing upsell or bundle app?
No. Qinci only recommends when the ingredients genuinely fit what's already in the cart, and it runs as its own storefront block. It sits alongside a general upsell or bundle app without conflicting.
What if my products don't have an ingredient list yet?
Qinci reads the custom.inci_list metafield first, falls back to the product description, then checks a built-in reference table of 300+ common third-party ingredients from brands like The Ordinary, CeraVe and COSRX. You can also import a CSV, or correct any product by hand in the app.
Will it slow down my store?
The widget script loads asynchronously and only calls the API once a shopper has something in their cart, so it never blocks your page from rendering.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Everything tied to your store is permanently deleted within 48 hours of uninstalling, automatically, no request needed. The Privacy Policy has the full breakdown.
Do you sell or share customer data?
No, never sold. Only the minimum necessary is shared with the small number of infrastructure providers listed in the Privacy Policy (hosting, email delivery, error monitoring) - never with other merchants or advertisers.
Which languages and currencies does it support?
The widget, planner and admin are fully available in English, German and Hungarian, matched to the shopper's browser automatically. Prices show in the shopper's own currency under Shopify Markets.
